Hello!

My name is Ko Kaiden. I would like to introduce myself and the services I offer you and your students.

Regarding my background, I am originally from Japan where I played oboe professionally, subbing in the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Japan Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, Sapporo Symphony and Nagoya Philharmonic. After moving to New York City in 1990, I learned to play other woodwind instruments in order to play in Broadway shows. In addition to being an active performer in New York City, I started a woodwind instrument repair business in 1993 specializing in oboe, clarinet and bassoon. Over these 18 years, I have worked with New York musicians ranging from the top freelance and orchestral professionals to work for the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Queens College, to name a few.

In summer 2008 I relocated my shop to Ann Arbor MI, then to Ypsilanti in 2009, now Plymouth in 2016 in order to build my instrument repair business as well as to enjoy the natural beauty and calm of Michigan.

In addition to offering regular repair, instrument check-ups and overhauls, I provide emergency (including late-night/overnight) repair service for problems such as stuck swabs, fallen pads, frozen keys and cracked instrument bodies.I can often provide immediate service in such cases.

If you have students, please encourage them to have their instruments checked regularly. An instrument in top playing condition is an invaluable asset to the serious teacher and student!

I hope to hear from you soon, and best wishes for wonderful music-making!

Sincerely,

Ko Kaiden
